Key Features:
✔️ Peaceful and easy to care for – great for beginners
✔️ Smaller size compared to common Plecos – perfect for home aquariums
✔️ Unique appearance with bristled facial features
✔️ Compatible with a wide range of freshwater fish
Care Tips:
🌡️ Water Temperature: 22-27°C (72-80°F)
📏 Tank Size: Minimum 80 litres recommended at adult size
🥦 Diet: Herbivorous – enjoys algae wafers, blanched vegetables, and driftwood for fiber {this species mostly consumes green dust algae and will not eat Blackbeard or hair algae}
💧 Water Conditions: pH 6.5-7.5, well-oxygenated water with moderate flow
It is best to only keep one per tank or one male per tank as they can become territorial with their own species. If multiple are kept in the same tank multiple hiding places and caves should be supplied.
Please note that although clean-up crews can help make thriving ecosystems within your aquariums, they are not great to add for the sole purpose of fixing an imbalance. This can contribute to that problem by adding more to the bioload, which can cause more algae. They will also need to be fed their own food. and cannot solely rely on what is in your aquarium.
